The Beauty of Callao Cave/Cagayanos Pride

By on May 13, 2021

A day in Tuguegarao gives you time to explore places that most day-trippers miss, an irresistible urge to go with just half an hour away about 24 Km. northwest of Tuguegarao, located in the Barangays of Magdalo and Quibal in the municipality of Peñablanca, is Callao Cave, a limestone seven-chamber cave and a cultural natural treasure.

Pleasantly cool inside the cave. The most alluring attraction is the dramatic rock formation, a landscape of extraordinary beauty.

A grand overview when panoramic views will make you forget the effort it took to get up there. Climbing the cave might be tough and challenging but it’s worth the climb.

Note: You may also like an evening hike where bats are active after sundown, you can stop to spot and snap the bats flying out of the cave. You’ll come to know more about Callao Cave next blog…

More Callao Cave blogs, ‘’Cagayan Vallley Tourist Spots’’ coming soon….

Mountain Float-Chiang Mai

By on February 25, 2020

Following our comprehensive itinerary Thailand tour starting in Bangkok, On our third day, we flew to Chiang Mai, the Northern part of Thailand. Our aim here is to enjoy the best of Chiang Mai from start to finish. This is the much-needed vacation we’ve been waiting for, no urgent concerns, no rushing obligations, just a well-deserved time leaving work and other worries behind but I don’t think one week vacation here in Thailand is the right amount of time, this is just a short time and plenty of travel sites transferring from location to another, not enough time to explore the whole of Thailand. I know for sure, sooner I keep coming back for more.

Day 1- Journey into the heart of Chiang Mai

Aerial View of Chiang Mai, Thailand from airplane window.

Departed on-time, we arrived in Chiang Mai early morning, not very far from the airport, we went straight for breakfast at Thai restaurant that serves the most popular Thai breakfast generally at reasonable prices, we really don’t want to miss this, it’s the start of the day. We ordered the most delicious and popular breakfast dishes. We had Thai congee, steamed siomai (pork dumplings, fried tofu, and other varieties were a bit less spicy. Our breakfast was so good, it gives ample energy to tour for the day.

After our breakfast, we went to relax in the spa for a duration of 120 mins massage, the AYURVEDIC & Wellness a health land massage, it is the most popular stress relief spa here in Chiang Mai.

What a Wow thing! Not only the soothing treatment, just after the massage, I immediately achieved the best feeling of well-being.

AYURVEDIC & Wellness
Health Land Chiang Mai Massage for Health

It’s about lunchtime when we finished our spa and another 30 minutes drive to reach Huen Muan Jai, a Northern Food Restaurant, one of the best places to eat and it is the most famous Thai select cuisine awarded by Ministry of Commerce in Thailand. As always, Thai food plays a central role renowned for its quality and diversity. This is really a traveler-oriented restaurant, food served was good, I was impressed with the taste and presentation techniques and enjoyed the succulent taste, it’s a bit expensive but worth trying sharing a selection of Northern dishes if you are heading to Chiang Mai, try this restaurant. More on that, a bit later.

After our healthy breakfast, a spa treatment and sumptuous lunch, I now have a better memory and energy level to cope with different activities throughout the day. It seems my energy is now best designed for long tour. I’m now ready to climb the mountains of Hill tribes. Here we go!

This is the best plan for an adventurous visitor like me to venture into the Karen territory, any visitor can seek out an inner territory of the Nomads.

From my journey to the North, it is worthwhile meeting the hill tribes. People here were very friendly and accommodating. So far, the longest time I have ever personally been on, anyway, I enjoyed every moment of it and I would be benefitted to learn about their cultural heritage.

Baan Tong Luang Eco-Agricultural Village

Continuing along the Northern part around Chiang Mai, the surrounding countryside is dotted with day-trip options in all directions. Climbing the hills en route to the mountains of hill tribes. A hill tribe is a term for all of the various ethnic groups in Thailand. The Heritage site, the home of the hill tribes originating in all various parts of China and Southeast Asia, the ethnic groups settled in Thailand who came from Burma, Laos, and Cambodia. They are often described as the 4th world people, they are simply migrants who continue to migrate moving frequently from one village to another.

Hill tribes sell locally produced products (crafted goods), no inflated costs if you buy directly from them. Support the ethnic group, buy their products!

The traditional mode of ethnic expression, the ethnic groups identified by their colorful traditional costume decorated by silver jewels and embellished by elegant bodices.

Meet the Karen tribe, my favorite of all the ethnic groups living there, Karen group scattered throughout the villages deep in the forest up high the mountains bordering Myanmar.

Legendary ”Giraffe woman” with extremely long necks adorned with gold rings. We usually call it a weird adornment but for them is a beauty treatment, this is to testify the richness of craft tradition and wealth of their own tribe.

Mountain Float Resort Chiang Mai

This is the major highlight of this blog that introduces more of Chiang Mai and suggesting when to go and what not to miss. I’m now sharing every aspect with you, dear readers.

Of greatest interest, the day will not end up here, it’s nearly 4 pm and the sun begins to set while a cool wind blows heading to our floating house.

Our excitement grows into every aspect of whats Chiang Mai is going to offer next. We were all excited to experience on-the-water home accommodation as our new hideaway destination is waiting for us.

After the Heritage site, We directly went to Sri Lanna National Park to catch the speed boat and from here, we were taken to the ”Mountain Float. It took 35 minutes to reach our new destination, The Mountain float or Houseboat, or Floating house, our new on-the-water home. Mountain float resort, a 4-star floating hotel in Chiang Mai.

Mountain Float Resort Chiang Mai

Mountain Float resort taken by flying camera, Drone, I love the results from that drone.

As we approached the floating house, the hotel crew was already waiting at the arrival area, ready to assist us. What a warm welcome!

Mountain Float Resort located in the Mae Taeng area of Chiang Mai. This is a floating house well-suited to families who want to experience a bit of privacy and to enjoy not only the food but also the peacefulness of the picturesque waterscape and watersports. For more dominant features coming up next, scroll down please, this is such a long blog.

The crew immediately offered us healthy snacks and local delicacies for the whole family to enjoy.

We have our own patio dining table just beside our room.

What a beautiful patio with a full lake breeze, it’s a unique geography to connect with nature overlooking across Sri Lanna National Park.

Foods served are the ones I’ve been craving for, How can I resist? A basket of Crispy Fried Chicken on a crepe basket with a side dish of Caesar salad, that’s a good part of my diet.

I have never had a more relaxing vacation just like this before, this is a beautiful spot to fuel the day. Plateful of nutritious food consists of fresh slices of ripe guavas, melon and dragon fruit.

Our assorted snacks for the day; that white jelly on a white plate is Khanom Tako or pudding, a Thai sweet Jelly with coco cream on top. On a native basket is Pork cracklings and the on a big platter is Pad Thai made out of fresh ingredients; rice noodles, shrimps, chicken, tofu and scrambled eggs. What an impressive food scene with light aromatic components.

This is something new to experience for the whole family and it’s ready to serve us.

There’s plenty of privacy, perfectly comfortable and spacious with dramatic waterscape. All houseboats have the buoyancy to make the raft float stably and with 24 hours electricity and water have been filtered through a series of standard equipment.

Each houseboat has an area of approximately 100 square meters divided into 4 large bedrooms with one double and twin beds. Each room has its own clean bathroom and toilet.

From the patio, you’ll feel the mellow atmosphere with a piece of soft music, to while away an hour or two during a pleasant conversation.

Enjoying the luxury lifestyle of a floating house for a few nights but adding considerable charms makes me feel like home. I felt the intimate connection with the serenity of the misty surroundings and nearby mountains.

The dramatic waterscape is truly beautiful that blends with the land and water breeze and that makes this place special.

I’m enjoying being alone even for just a moment, atmosphere around gives me exhilarating sense of peacefulness.

Wooden walkways going to the restaurant. Mountain float is just the right balance fairly offered us modern comfort.

You don’t have to worry about anything, everything is included; the boat trips, water sports, buffet breakfast and dinner and they also served the most nutritious snack.

Mountain Float Restaurant dining area. Our buffet breakfast going on here, somehow, very appealing and well-organized food presentation, it’s a modern twist display.

My morning breakfast

At first, it took a while to get used to a floating home, on our first night, it was uneasy and couldn’t sleep because our new bedroom is entirely different to our usual one. The only problem, the temperature is fine daytime but at sundown, the temperature drops abruptly and you will experience a chilly night till 6 in the morning. Absolutely no buzzing nightlife here but there’s a billiard hall for the boys to play with no time limits.

Mountain Float Restaurant

Dining on separate houseboat with a lounge, it’s lovely and romantic venue, it’s a home away from home.

It offers exceptional fishing, Kayaking speed boating, swimming and other water sports just ready to use.

There’s also a kid’s play platform and jumping stumps for them to enjoy.

There’s also a floating boat lift for speed boats, you can even wander from your houseboat to another houseboats nearby, the floating platform is stable.

Another perspective on this water world, getting closer to nature on a kayak.

The blissful solitude at its most whimsical and surreal.

Visibly stunning sunrise

Wooden walkways with potted plants

My favorite spot to catch up the sunrise, great ambiance, excellent food and a pleasant space to hang out for long conversations.

Thinking of people I care about, the right moment for me to reflect on the things I should be grateful for, a reminder for the many things we have to be thankful for. God is good!

This is really a wonderful place to enjoy the serenity of life and to nourish my soul.

Buddhist Monk collecting alms arrives at Mountain Float Resort early in the morning.

There’s never been a more exciting time than to stay here considering dramatic views and the serenity of the lake.

There’s plenty to enjoy here in Chiang Mai Mountain Float, escape your busy life, pick your travel destination to experience a perfect place to unwind.

To document my experience staying here was such an amazing treat for the whole family, I wished vacation would never end….

Chiang Mai, Thailand, this is the kind of place to fall in love with, I was emotionally sad to leave this place. Definitely, it reminds me of my friends; Dear Pat, Jam and Sorakhom’s family. My special thanks goes to you guys! Words are certainly not enough to express my gratitude to you. Thank you so much Papatsorn! Thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality !

Golden Waterfall

By on March 29, 2019

For long years I had wanted to see this Golden Waterfall personally, one of the most popular tourist attractions in New Taipei, Taiwan. Luck came finally, I got lucky and my long wish has been granted. It was a windy winter month of December and temperature drops 10°C cold throughout Ruifang District. On a half day free we managed to hit Ruifang attractions, we headed to this place. The ”Golden waterfall” it is one of the suggested ideal itineraries not to be missed, we arrived at viewpoint overlooking the beautiful waterfalls and I was refreshed by the blast of natural beauty, it was gold in color and water looks crystal clean but not knowing what I’d find.

The honest truth, I later discovered the natural beauty I’m referring to is a toxic waterfall, it contain a high level of toxicity due to toxic wastes and chemicals from factories potentially harmful contaminants. It is beautiful gold in color as the result of frequent rainfall near mining sites and the heavy metal elements deposited near riverbanks.

The grand overview of the entire waterfall, it is located in Ruifang District, New Taipei, Taiwan. We’ve been to Taiwan a couple of times but this is the first time to see these group of waterfalls. It never fails to take my breath away but it is unsafe to touch. How harmful it may be but it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Special attractions near the Golden waterfall

Views from this road are absolutely gorgeous!

Excellent views of the surroundings and wild greenery.

Visit Taiwan at its most glorious from waterfalls, cherry blossoms, beautiful temples, famous Sun Moon lake down to the mountain cliffs…

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation (Burgos Ilocos Norte)

By on July 18, 2018

Out of the 25 tourist attractions I’ve seen during my tour to Ilocos, the Kapurpurawan Rock Formation in Burgos is a sight to behold. Particularly renowned for its unique formation of rocks that looks like a reminder of prehistoric past. It is extremely a rugged white mountain of rocks rise above highlands. The irregular and cone-shaped high rocks of every form takes a hundred of years to form, it’s usually formed by products of erosion of pre-existing rocks.

Because of the rugged terrain, I’m not so sure if I can tolerate the heat and not really sure if I’m fit enough for a 2-hour uphill and downhill trek, it was extremely hot but windy out there so I rented a horse to take me around following the steep trail and surely, it’s the kind of horse that can manage rocky terrain. Anyway, the cost of the horse is not that expensive at all, it’s only 100 per person with a guide around.

This trail will lead you all the way down to the rock formation site. Down there is a  sloping pasture, you can see the presence of cattle, sheep and goats around. it’s a grazing land.

I’m not an experienced rider but I can lead a horse.

One of the most dramatic rock formation.

Photo shows different sedimentary rock formations as simply formed in different ways.

A unique beauty in the wilderness

A splendid steep rock formation, magnificent scenery.

Closing up the edge of the cliff and the high mountains, it was spectacular! Kapurpurawan Rock Formation in Burgos, a unique landscape I’ll never forget…

Beautiful Flowers of Baguio

By on January 24, 2018

Just a small area beside the living room is the balcony, how can I resist to capture all these attractive flowers beside me? It seems it’s the right daylight to capture the nearest subject of photography;  the  dahlias, hybrid roses and the splendid blooming lavender flowers. Appreciating these December beauties, it’s just like springtime in Baguio.

Not a clearer dawn but I’m in the right mood to capture them. It’s interesting to include the landscape behind, with the low light camera adjustment, the background gives light and breathtaking effect. How tempting. Let me show you a few… Let’s get started!

Hybrid tea roses on sunrise and pine forest background. Constantly, you can see the good result in seasonal colors.

It looks darker red when the sun shines through it.

Another good choice are the Lavender flowers in individual containers on the balcony.

Early morning sun for the red Daisies.

Other aspects of photography and the best way to reconnect you with nature is to see these landscape photos I’ve captured around. You may also want to view Baguio landscapes and the tall pine trees.

Other landscape nearby covered by brilliant mass of flowers. I took this photo up there when I was still in the highlands. More to come next post.. Thanks for viewing and reading my blog!

Tali Beach, Nasugbu Batangas

By on February 10, 2017

Travel Highlights and Adventure

It looks so pretty, pleasant and peaceful inside the Tali Subdivision, Island outing this time has gone far better. I was talking about our latest adventure last December, this was pretty darn cool! With just a two and a half drive away from the south capital of Manila in the province of Batangas is a small town of Nasugbu facing the waters of South China Sea. From all levels, Nasugbu as one of the several diving sites in the Philippines has plenty to offer not only to divers but also to tourists and water sport fanatics as well. Best enough to enjoy lingering around, cliff diving, scuba, snorkeling, speed boating and the beaches are enough interesting sites considering the calm pristine waters, abundance of flying fishes, beautiful shells and white corals, sea stars and some exotic species to name a few.. Once you get there, there’s a lot more to surprise you and a lot more to be discovered. Nasugbu is blessed with endless coastlines stretching in all directions, many beautiful scenes to behold, great diving destination and swimming areas.

Tali Subdivision

Activities to do:

Inside the private and friendly community, these are the things to try while on vacation: Personal gadgets seems to be very useful to this point, ready! focus! and click! Just a bit review…

  1.  Sunset Viewing

Along Sunset Drive recognized as one of the best places to watch the sunset. Closer distance, we spotted the flying fishes and migratory birds atop cliff side. With a peaceful and serene atmosphere, sun ray’s sparkling off the gentle waves turned into a sparking multi-colored diamonds. Sunset drive is a welcome sight to watch the sunset.

The scenery is breathtaking from atop. Glancing towards us, sun still drifting along with trailing pink red and blue and orange ribbons of light. It feels like I’m so close to nature, it was a Magnificent sunset!

You can enjoy sipping a cold drinks while watching the sunset with romantic tune playing on your phone, we’ve all been here the whole afternoon till day ends, the thrill of watching the sunset as it descends in the horizon is a memorable experience especially if you are with your loved ones.

2. Cliff Jumping, Scuba Diving and Water Sports

For scuba, a lush of underwater world attractions that features; coral reefs, cauliflower-shaped and pink corals, sea shells, abundance of lion fishes, scorpion fishes stingrays and sharks.

Soft corals washed ashore by strong waves and currents.

For water Sports- Jet skis, Speed boats, Luxury yachts, Banana boats

Cliff Jump Site, Nasugbu, Batangas

An amazing brownstone arising dramatically intended for cliff jumping, the large brown rock formation created by nature.

 3. Leisurely Morning and Afternoon Strolling

A favorite way to begin a day around Cliff jump site park. The sun rose bright and full warm as the favorable wind refreshes our mood. Overlooking the coastlines below, the quiet greenery of palm trees and mountains, flying fishes jumping over the water, speed boats and jet skis crossing around ships.

Top view of the island is the highest peak, nevermind climbing steeply up and down, the steep hillside that leads to the panoramic view of the sunset, you can view the heavy slopes but with a well-manicured landscape and a gentle refreshing breeze to cool your photography mood.

4. Outstanding Sightings

At a distance, we spotted a beautiful vacation house with a fascinating landscape, it’s a seaside paradise, the sun greeted me with a full bright sunshine smile to see it.

Seaside architecture and an extraordinary home by the sea. Breathtakingly beautiful setting!

Twin Island

A privately owned island, two large rocks jutting up out of the sea. Overlooking the two coastal rock formations, it was a twin island arising in the middle of the sea.

Bat cave

Beautiful formation of the cave  and it’s also a popular site.

5. Boat Riding

The big boat can accommodate 16 people but with only 5 aboard heading to Munting Buhangin carrying members of the family from Tali beach experiencing full force of wind and heavy waves but was replaced by excitement when we passed by Fortune island and Twin Islands. After some safety instructions, the boat provides safety life jacket, all very necessary.

The 45 minutes riding was a pleasurable one as we sees the passing speed boats, luxury yachts, colorful sailboats, and other passing watercrafts. What a relaxing expression from our faces to see 50 yards ahead of us, I could see the pristine white beach, this could be the place,”Munting Buhangin”

 5. Discovering new species

Walking around the island, I was pretty scared to see all these particular species, they’re supposed to be incredibly rare in most places. This is real interesting, I haven’t seen one like this before. I think, this is water centipede, it was huge and incredibly long crawling near the rocky bit of corals.

Water centipede

How about this one? A black dead eel washed ashore by strong waves.

Floral-shaped corals and sea shells

Soft corals of different kinds

Coquina

Crab cave

6. Beautiful Beaches/ Calm waters/Breathtaking views

All beaches located inside Tali subdivision;Main beach, Marina beach,Palm Beach, Secret beach, Barrier beach and Sunset beach. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen protection.

Main Beach

It’s so quiet and peaceful with few inhabitants around, it was just five minutes walk from the place where we are staying but the rugged slopes made me tired climbing up and down.

Main Beach

The good setting is is just as also beautiful to spot the sunset. It is accessible to all points.

If you are lucky to catch the annual Tali Beach Concert Festival, your stay would even be more memorable.

Sunset Beach

Marina Beach

Pleasant sea breeze ominously cool. Speedboats are common that can be seen around. Plenty of sea shells, star fishes and eel can be spotted around.

It was a perfect afternoon at Marina beach, water is cold and refreshing.

Beautiful setting of Marina Beach

Nasugbu offers a wide range of outing possibilities deciding which area to choose for a  reasonable and financial considerations. Far sites that you may also want to visit, can be reached by boat  or car 20-30 minutes away.

Munting Buhangin Beach Camp

A kilometer stretch of white sand beach that can suit 5,000 people with choices of exclusive and semi-exclusive accommodation.

Munting Buhangin Beach Camp

Punta Fuego

Pico De Loro Beach Resort

Other beaches in Nasugbu; Sumo Bank– suited for professional divers, Canyon Cove Beach Club, Fortune Island Resort these are just a few to mention…

Underwater Attraction Delights (Batangas) : Where to Dive?

Sumo Bank it is said to be suited for more professional divers, among other features; cauliflower-shaped corals with sharks roaming around.

Anilao Favorite dive spots and birthplace of Philippine scuba. The favorite photo spot for photographers is the Cathedral Rock with vibrant colorful reef fish.

Fortune Island – Just like the Twin Island, the most famous dive-sites  a privately owned island. Blue holes, one particular area features sweet lips, parrot fishes, angelfishes butterfly-fishes, squid and cattle fishes. You can also spot the remains of the old freighter 20 meters underwater.

Puerto Galera and Verde Island a common dive spots to see the remains of the keel of Spanish Galleon but was also kept and preserved in National Museum. You can see here large cascading white coral shells, anemones, mantas, eagle rays and white-blacktip sharks.

Sunken Bootythe northern part of Twin island, not so beautiful but hides artefacts from a long time ago sunken galleon, remains of rope and anchor still existing.

Pinnacles and Point, Sombrero Island, PADI Dive Center and Maya-Maya Reef Resort, a popular one is also worth a try..

Where to stay?

An ideal choice of ours to fit our needs daily with a very reasonable price, Jo and Johnny’s Beach and Dive Inn inside Tali Subdivision, Nasugbu is a temporary home that will give you the comfort, we occupied the top floor level, it’s a home you’ll call it, mine!

Jo and Johnny’s Beach and Dive Inn

Good Food and Where’s it Found?

Best Restaurants: Kainan sa Dalampasigan, Pico Sand Restaurant and El Cocinero Restaurant. Try Bulalo as the main specialty of Batangas. Outside Batangas, make a brief stop to try my favorite> Antonio’s Restaurant, serves the best foods in Tagaytay,So far, the best I’ve ever tasted.

Local Snacks/ Pasalubong to Bring Home:

Another cravings; make a quick stop at Rowena’s Tagaytay, I love the Blueberry, Mango and Strawberry Tarts, comes a lot of different flavors. Surprising sweets, our favorite purchase, pick up a pack of Sylvanas, Yemas and Pastillas as well.

Nasugbu was a very happy experience for us. Batangas may not be the top of your choice of tourists attractions  unlike Baguio, Palawan, Boracay and Cebu but the chance to enjoy leisurely swimming nearby, 7 beaches inside Tali subdivision, the water sports, taste of rural life, good photography spot to snap panoramic photos, deep blue sea, fine white sand, good landscape and clean surroundings. Most of all, you’ll fine true hospitality while dealing with the people around Nasugbu.

Before retiring to bed, what a good night sleep to hear the sounds of crickets and other night insects. For me, it’s like music to my ears! Of course, all good moments must come to an end, this whole island adventure will really be something to tell everyone back home. Summer is coming and fast approaching, another adventure would take place in weeks time, How cool is that?
